There’s a saying in business, when, if you remain at the same point, you’re going backwards. Let me tell you, that hasn’t been the case within the Chamber since my last report.

We have had meetings with our new Mayor – Melva Hobson; Federal Member for Bowman – Andrew Laming; State Member for Cleveland – Phil Weightman; representatives of The Department of State Development and Greater Brisbane Area Consultative Committee. Add our regular Chamber meetings and Executive meetings and it all certainly fills your diary.

What does this all mean? In a nutshell, it means an amalgamation of various information facilities, strong representation by our local and state politicians to address and solve problems as they arise and to ensure that the Chamber can truly be a voice for business in the Redlands.

I would like to mention, may I say with pride, the recent Redland Retail Awards. The Committee of Garth Bell, Debbie Madsen, Jeanette Howard, Suzanne Morrison, Samantha Litfin and Anita Plath did an outstanding job of presenting and organising this event.

I forgot to mention Sylvia Norton, because of a work transfer couldn’t attend the awards, but her contribution was enormous.

Thank you very much to you all, and although Garth won’t be chairing this committee next year – he’s still a legend.
